South Dakota

Grab your buddies and some comfortable hunting boots and get ready to walk the vast prairies of South Dakota in search of arguably the greatest upland bird hunting the United States has to offer. There is no better place to walk endless miles following bird dogs in search of wild pheasant. This is a trip that chills the bones and exhausts legs but fuels the soul and the heart as hunters enjoy long days in the field and short evenings in front of a fire reminiscing on the day’s events.

South Dakota is one of the best trips hunters can do in groups of 10 or more, where a social atmosphere provides plenty of action, great bird dogs, and tremendous laughter and fun. Birds will be hit and missed, potholes will be tripped in, and great times will be had. This is a trip that brings groups together in ways the box seat at the Braves game never will!

This is a great trip for three or four days where plenty of ground will be covered, stories will be told, and rich conversation will be had.

Florida Keys

Turquoise water. Towering palms. Calm breezes. Picture standing on the bow of a flats boat stripping your Clouser Minnow as you try to hook into the greatest sport fish the fly-fishing world has ever known. Islamorada provides the opportunity to catch multiple tarpon each day as our guests pursue both resident and migratory fish during the season’s peak in May.

Islamorada is one of the greatest places to fish for “silver kings” on the planet, and it is right in our backyard. Long days on the water are matched with lunch on the flats and an ice-cold Corona back on the dock. Exhaustion never felt so good as you relive your experience and sheepishly laugh, recalling your guide yelling at you to follow his instructions—usually with some colorful language! This is a trip that is invigorating, relaxing, and fatiguing all at the same time. Few trips will allow you to test your metal with a 150-pound fish and provide stories that will be shared among your group for years to come.

Four days is likely all you can handle on a trip like this. This is an adventure that will leave you wanting more, though you know you probably couldn’t handle it if you got it.

Jackson Hole

There are few places that are more majestic to visit and fish than Jackson Hole. Our guests will fish any number of local rivers and have the chance to camp on the banks of the South Fork of the Snake River one night. Jackson Hole has the unique offering of incredible fly fishing, excellent lodging and food, and all the amenities one could ask for, tied into a grand adventure.

There are few better ways to end your day than sipping whiskey around a campfire in the half-glow of the canyon, as you laugh over who fell out of the boat or lost the big fish of the day. Relationships are better formed in the midst of a great adventure where laughter is a staple, conversation is rich, and intimate friendships are born.

Four days is all that is needed to set the foundation for a lifetime of great friendship in a place like Jackson Hole. Prepare for an incredible time.

Alaska

Imagine a place that seems like there are no other fishing lodges or people.  Anywhere. The vastness and remoteness of Alaska give adventurers the feeling they are entering an untouched landscape where clear, pristine waters lie around every bend in the river. This is truly the last frontier, and certainly gives the fly fisherman that feeling.

Here, guests have the opportunity to watch the sun “bounce” as they cast a variety of leach and salmon patterns in the Land of the Midnight Sun. Alaska is home to unrivaled fly fishing, providing chances to catch large rainbows and arctic char, as well as silver, sockeye, and king salmon—the baddest fish in fresh water. Combine this with a heightened awareness of surroundings as guests will be closer to bears and wildlife than they ever thought possible. (Pro tip: You will smell the bears before you see them in the elephant grass.) Have your camera ready as you watch brown bears fish for salmon in the same water you are fishing. This is an awe-inspiring trip that provides countless memories and even better stories, and a trip you will want to do over and over again.

Seven days is recommended, but it can be done in five. However, you don’t get to Alaska every day, so go ahead and get in the extra couple of days and do it right. You will be glad you did.

Patagonia

Experience the best fly fishing and quail hunting Patagonia has to offer. With its rich culture and European influence, Patagonia is a place like no other. Guests will stay in one of several diverse lodges, providing fishing and hunting choices across the three most productive regions of Patagonia. From there, fishermen will fish world renown rivers like the Chimehuin and Alumine, where they have the opportunity to catch large trout and large quantities of trout. With the Andes Mountains as a backdrop, guests will wade, float, and stalk the most beautiful water Patagonia has to offer.

The following day, guests trade in their waders and fly rods for 20 gauge over-under shotguns, as they hunt wild quail behind expert guides and bird dogs. California quail seem to explode from behind every bush and along every fence row. The food and local wine and beer are excellent. The fishing and hunting are matched only by the streamside camaraderie and chatter back at the lodge. My dad would have said this is actually what a day in heaven is going to be like. It’s hard to argue with. This is truly a bucket list trip for the avid outdoorsman.

Seven days is the suggested duration for a trip of this caliber.
